This historic craftsman-style home in Piedmont California included an outdated, dark, and ill-ill-equiped kitchen separated from a formal paneled dining room by an impractical and cramped butler's pantry. Like most modern Americans without a full-time butler, the owner's wanted a bright, fully-equipped kitchen that flowed freely into the adjacent family and dining rooms. DOES Architecture accomplished this while maintaining the look and feel of the original craftsman design, updated with modern finishes and fixtures. The kitchen features custom shaker-style cabinets with marble counters and open shelving, with a large center island topped with easy-maintenace Pentalquartz and room for casual dining or children's homework. An adjacent pantry includes laundry facilities and additional storage. The original dining room paneling and bench was restored, and double doors open to the back yard.
