NOE VALLEY DECK
Full Architectural Services

This mid-century modern home in San Francisco's Noe Valley neighborhood has a very small back yard that was completely filled with a walled and roofed 70's-era hot-tub party room. Clearing out the old, unpermitted, and structurally deficient construction, DOES Architecture secured the necessary variance to build a new, larger, more open deck that functions as an extension of the house interior. A folding wall system by La Cantina Doors now connects the dining room to the back deck, and a smaller but still generous gliding glass door connects the master bedroom to the sun-filled seating area. Surrounding the new deck is a cor-ten steel fence that features a water-jet custom perforated pattern, derived from the temporal and geographic history of the owners. The fence panels are backlit with high-efficacy LED lighting, that produces a magical backdrop for evening entertainment.

Construction by Landmark Construction. Engineering by Himmati Engineering. Fence panel Dynamo programming by Integrated Design Studios. Panel Fabrication by Precision Waterjet and Laser. Exterior Lighting by Diode LED.  Photos by DOES Architecture.
