Rooted in the language of modern architecture, DOES Architecture extends, evolves and redefines the precepts of modern design through surface articulation, environmental sensibilities, and programmatic idiosyncrasies.
We specialize in custom residential renovations and new construction including: small to mid-sized commercial, retail, and hospitality projects. DOES Architecture brings the same refined sensibility to the smallest of projects with the most modest of budgets. And, from the inception of every project, we integrate unique and sustainable strategies into our design to achieve your goals — all while keeping a close eye on value and return on investment.
We listen closely to our clients and together we create an innovative vision for your project — a vision that accommodates the requirements of personal programs that engage the senses, through the aesthetic manipulation of surface and volume in light. Our projects meet the requirements for everyday living while nurturing the emotional and spiritual needs of the inhabitants.
Eric Staten, Principal, began his practice in 1982. He has worked with many notable architecture firms including the Saitowitz Office, SMWM and TannerHecht Architects. Eric, with his prodigious range of project experience at every level of design, also brings to the project extensive knowledge of public planning and entitlement processes. Eric has a Bachelor of Architecture with High Honors from California College of the Arts (CCA), and has studied at both Cooper Union and SCI-ARC. He is a California Licensed Architect, a LEED™ Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction (AP/ BD+C). He is an active member of SPUR, the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association, and has been a guest critic at CCA and Cal Poly Schools of Architecture. Additionally, Eric is a keynote speaker at professional conferences on housing and transportation design.
