WOODSIDE II RESIDENCE
Concept Design, Planning Approvals, Design Review, Construction Documents, Architect of Record.

A spec house of a flat wooded site near Skyline Boulevard. Setbacks dictated a compact footprint, best part of the site is the experience of being amongst the trees. Separating the house into distinct volumes allows views of nature from different directions in almost every room of the house. Breaks down the apparent mass. Simple Materials, Large decks off of every wing. A composition of punched windows facing the entry, large expanses of glass on the private side to take in the views into the trees. Separate garage and office/guest wing, living wing, entrance, kid's bedrooms and family room, and master suite. "Build it Green" Platinum rating. Taking into account the increasing fire danger in California, the house is constructed with fire-resistive materials including a standing seam metal roof, and a cement board rain-screen wall system. Energy and resource efficient measures include high performance windows, site milled douglas fir interior paneling, low-water and native plant landscaping, natural ventilation, high-efficacy LED lighting, and high-performance spray-foam insulation.

Landscape Design by W. Jeffrey Heid, Civil Engineering by Precision Engineering and Construction, Inc, Green Point Rating by Emery Design Consultants, Septic Design by Steve Hartsell.
