People-centered planning and a new visual presentation transform a moribund retail giant untouched since 1982. New lighting and careful attention to finishes overcame the difficult ambient lighting conditions created by a tinted skylight film. Elliptical openings clad in back-painted glass panels break down the overwhelming scale and identify locations for circulation and seating. At the center court, monumental new escalators become a visual icon for the new shopping experience.
